Our Learning Labs are a series of webinars, co-organized with Spitfire Strategies, open to the field working to end childhood sexual violence. They are designed to build the skills to tell a different story about this problem, one centered on prevention, solutions, collective action, and hope.

How we think about it

After launching our roadmap to end childhood sexual violence, one of the clearest needs our field raised was how to communicate better about an issue so often wrapped in stigma and silence, and so widely assumed to be inevitable. Part of what makes it feel that way is the frame that blames a few "bad apples." That frame is so normalized we rarely question it, and it quietly convinces us this is a matter of individual monsters, where the only answer is crime and punishment, and nothing that can truly be prevented.

But we, in the field, know that we need to dismantle the roots of a structural problem. We also know evidence-based solutions exist. We have frameworks, we have tested programs, and organizations across the world are already doing remarkable work to prevent and respond to childhood sexual violence.

So how do we begin to change the narrative, to tell this as the systemic, preventable problem it is? How do we write a different story together, one that doesn't hold us back in disbelief and inaction? That is why To Zero, with Spitfire Strategies, created a program to support organizations across the field to tell that story: one that highlights solutions, shows the evidence, celebrates the work being done, and instills hope. Because childhood sexual violence is preventable, and it is solvable. Because, together, we can end it.

Every session leaves you with frameworks, worksheets, and examples you can apply to your communications work right away, whatever the size of your organization. Across the series we cover working with reporters, ethical storytelling, countering opposition, campaign planning, and social media strategy, all grounded in Growing Up Safe, To Zero's narrative and messaging guidance.
